Dr. Kendall Coffman, IMFT
Clinical Therapist, Owner
Hi! My name is Kendall (he/him). I have always felt that the therapeutic journey, both as a therapist and as a client, is a sacred walk towards a deeper understand of the self. We were never meant to "do life" alone, and owning our story can be hard - but not nearly as hard as spending our lives running from it. Although everyone's therapeutic journey is different, it is my hope that we can co-create and cultivate an authentic space for you to better understand the current and previous chapters of your life. I believe that we all have a duty to continue learning and unlearning the many facets that make up our wholehearted, imperfect, messy, and magical lives.
It is also ethically and therapeutically important to me that I also name the identities that I bring with me into the therapeutic space. My unearned privileges related to my whiteness, my cisgender identity, and my access to higher education bring a multitude of experiences and perspectives that I do my best to acknowledge, process, and name if and when they show up in the therapy process. Additionally, my lived experience as a gay man also shapes how I make sense of, and navigate, the world. Relationships (whether that be therapeutic or not) at their foundation are rooted in affirming identities, mutual consent, anti-oppression, trauma-awareness, boundary setting/honoring, and community care.
I enjoy working with a variety of people (individual and relationship therapy), but specialize working with folks navigating shame, stigma, life transitions, polyamory/open relationships, anxiety, heartbreak, and loss. Outside of therapy, I am an Adjunct Professor at Antioch University, Columbus State Community College and Otterbein University where I teach courses in psychology, counseling, and human sexuality. In my free time I like to hike, read, play tennis, spend time with friends & family, and listen to Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version obviously)!
